About Nodera Children's Home

A small, specialist residential home in Fareham, Hampshire, dedicated to providing safe, therapeutic care for young people aged 10 to 17 with complex needs.

Our Mission

Nodera Children's Home exists to provide a safe, stable, and therapeutically grounded home for young people aged 10 to 17 who are unable to live with their families — including some of the most complex and vulnerable young people in Hampshire. We are committed to upholding the rights and promoting the welfare of every child in our care.

We understand that many of the young people who come to us have experienced significant adversity and that previous placements may not have been able to meet their needs. Our role is not simply to provide accommodation — it is to be a genuine home: a place of consistency, warmth, respect, and high expectations.

Our Values

Safety — Every young person has the right to feel physically and emotionally safe at all times.

Respect — We treat every young person with dignity, listen to their views, and involve them in decisions about their care.

Consistency — Stable relationships and predictable routines are the foundation of our work.

Ambition — We believe in the potential of every young person and actively support their education, development, and future aspirations.

Our Therapeutic Approach

Trauma-Informed Practice — every member of our team understands how trauma affects the developing brain, behaviour, and relationships. We respond to behaviour with curiosity, not sanctions, recognising that what looks like defiance is often distress in disguise.

Child-Centred Care — each placement is built around the individual young person's needs, history, wishes, and goals, not a one-size-fits-all model.

Therapeutic Relationships — we believe the relationship between a child and their key worker is the single most important factor in a positive outcome, and we invest in building, sustaining, and repairing those relationships.

Structured and Predictable Environment — clear daily routines and transparent expectations, communicated with warmth rather than rigidity.

Restorative Practice — where conflict arises, we use restorative approaches to repair relationships and build empathy and accountability, rather than simply applying consequences.

Strengths-Based Planning — we focus on what young people can do, enjoy, and aspire to, and we notice, name, and celebrate progress, however incremental.

**Our Home**

Nodera is a comfortable, family-style property in a settled residential area of Fareham, Hampshire. Our home has been thoughtfully prepared and adapted to create a calm, welcoming environment where young people can feel settled and secure — with three individual en-suite bedrooms, a separate staff toilet, a shared bathroom, a homely lounge, a dining area, a modern kitchen, and a secure private garden.

We have a maximum of three registered places, which allows us to provide highly individualised care. With a small group, young people benefit from consistent keyworker relationships, more adult attention and support, and a calmer atmosphere that supports emotional regulation and recovery.

**Our Team**

All members of our care team are carefully recruited with an unwavering commitment to the welfare of children. Every member of staff holds or is working towards a relevant qualification in residential childcare, and all staff undergo enhanced DBS checks and a comprehensive induction programme before working directly with young people.

We invest heavily in the ongoing training, supervision, and wellbeing of our team, because we know that the quality of care depends entirely on the people providing it.
